Doula Training Course

Our unique program aims to provide you with a wide range of knowledge.

You will gain in-depth knowledge about massage during pregnancy and childbirth, which can assist with labour induction when needed.

 You will also acquire knowledge in reflexology, breathwork, yoga for pregnancy and birth, and essential oils—all to support women on their new journey.

 The training will integrate traditional Māori birthing knowledge, working with midwives for home births and hospital settings, water births, support for calm birthing environments, and an understanding of hospital procedures and more.

Obtain an international certification as a Qualified Doula through our comprehensive training program.

The training program consists of two blocks, each block runs over 9 consecutive days.

To assist participants traveling from afar, we will provide accommodation. Each block covers different topics and is taught by experts in their respective fields, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching experience.

.The entire course comprises 180 in person study hours, followed by a 70-hour internship accompanying two births.

Our educational staff will offer support throughout the internship period.

The cost for each block is $2200.

During the intership period, the Doulas will receive Koha from the family they support.

We offer two intakes per year.

Content:

8 days learning

  • Pelvic Changes: Understanding the changes in the pelvis during pregnancy and birth.

  • Pelvic Health: The importance of a loose pelvic structure for a healthy birth.

  • Yoga: Yoga exercises specifically for pregnant women.

  • Massage Techniques: Massage practices for pregnancy and birth.

  • Reflexology: Reflexology methods for pregnant women.

  • Postpartum Care: Postpartum massage to prevent depression and support recovery.

  • Nutrition:

    • Strengthening nutrition for pregnancy and birth.

    • Restorative nutrition for after birth.

  • Medicinal Plants: Use of medicinal plants for cleansing the body and preparing for pregnancy and birth.

  • Essential Oils: Application of essential oils during pregnancy and birth.

  • Hipobirthing

  • Craniosacral Therapy: Craniosacral support for mother and newborn.

Block 2

With Belle cook , midwives , Rongoā Māori practitioner and a CPR course.

Content:

  • Pregnancy process: stages, hormones , fetus development week by week.

  • High risk pregnancy: Gestational diabetes, preeclampsia , from a medical and holistic perspective

  • Home birth and water birth

  • Stillbirth: the role of the doula in supporting Stillbirth

  • Hospital birth: induction of labor, Epidural , c section, from medical and holistic perspective

  • Breech baby: medical and holistic perspective

  • CPR course , first aid for new born and children 8.5 hours

  • Doula business support

  • Internship preparation

  • Graduation

Internship Period

Accompanying two births will be required to complete the study process.

Accompanying the births will be carried out with the support of the college Staff.

For the internship period the Doula will charge a reduced price.

  • The internship period can take place anywhere in New Zealand or overseas.

  • The course graduates will receive the certifications at the end of Block Two.
